Abdoulaye Diabate alias "Djoss" hails from a great line of jèlílujèlílu (plural, jèlílu) are bards,
loremasters, and praise-singers in the Manding areas whose functions are story-telling, speaking about lineages, singing and playing music as they want and hear it. from Kela (Mali). His ancestor, Morykaba Diabate, fought besides Soundjata KeitaSundiata faasa is the most famous song of the Manding tradition. This

Abdoulaye has also spent some twenty years performing contemporary and popular music. His musical career led him to a fusion
of these styles. In 1973 he joined the Tenetemba Jazz in Bamako, Mali. In 1975, he moved to Abidjan (Ivory Coast), where he formed his own band, Super Mande. In this band many of the

In 1992, Abdoulaye joined the world famous Ballets Koteba as a singer and guitarist. He also toured the world with Les Go de Koteba in the mid-nineties. He was noted in 2002 as the star of the Smithsonian Folkways compilation : Badenya, Manden Jaliya in New York City.
Abdoulaye was featured on the cover of the album with his irresistible smile.
Since the 2000's, Abdoulaye is ruling a great solo career.
