Kandia Kouyaté est une chanteuse malienne très célèbre en son pays et de renommée internationale ; la puissance et la profondeur de son chant lui ont valu le surnom de « la Dangereuse ».

Dans ses 2 derniers albums, Kandia Kouyaté fait la preuve de l'étendue et de l'originalité de son répertoire ; en effet, loin de se contenter de reprendre les éternels classiques de la musique mandingue comme l'exigerait la tradition et les codes relatifs au prestigieux nom qu'elle porte, elle innove par des compositions toutes personnelles aux arrangements très modernes sans négliger l'histoire de son peuple comme en témoigne son titre devenu si célèbre : « Mandekalou » - Le peuple du Mandé - qu'il est devenu éponyme d'une récente compilation et d'un grand projet en 2004 du producteur Ibrahim Sylla.

Lire la suite., assurément, Kandia Kouyaté, par son chant puissant fait entendre non seulement la voix ancestrale des maîtres griots de Kita, mais aussi la voix tout entière du Mandingue à l'orée du XXI° siècle.

En cette fin de l'année 2015 (Octobre), Kandia fait son grand retour avec l'album Renascence. « Ce nouvel album a pu être réalisé grâce à la tenacité de Sylla, dit Kandia. J'avais été malade et Sylla était gravement malade, mais il était toujours là [au studio], à m'encourager. Il m'a demandé de chanter tout ce que je savais, tout ce qui était dans ma tête. Je lui ai dit : je ne sais plus rien. J'ai tout oublié. Mais il a insisté : Demain, ça va revenir, disait-il. »

Et c'est se qui s'est passé. Sa voix, plus sombre et plus riche que dans ses premiers albums, a une autorité qui vient prendre sa source au puits profond de sa sagesse. C'est la voix d'une véritable Ngara (titre le plus noble et haut donné à un griot). Renascence sonne aujourd'hui comme le cri d'une renaissance. »

If you check out to her last 2 albums, you may notice how great is her talent ; as far as she performs not only Manding classics - as it should be required according to the strict tradition and her prestigious name - she innovates with own compositions mixed in a very modern style, but in the other hand she does not omit the past and history of her people as she sings the famous song : «Mandekalou » (People of Mande) so famous that it has been took as a eponymic name for a recent compilation and a great project.

« This new album was made only because of Sylla, says Kandia. “I had been ill and Sylla was gravely ill, but he was always there [in the studio], encouraging me. He asked me to sing everything I knew, everything that was in my head. I said 'I know nothing. I’ve forgotten everything.' But he insisted. 'Tomorrow it will come back,' he said.”
