 Djeour Cissokho is a jeli, a korafolá A korafolá is a kora player in mandinka (who is able to make the kora talk) - korafolálu, plural. and
singer, native from Senegal.
Son of the famous Soundioulou Cissoko, Djeour Cissokho and his band (“Allalake”) is proudly walking on his father' fingertips ; like Kaouding Cissoko, he plays kora fusion.
In his album, Guisna, Djeour Cissokho displays his talents on kora reventlly inspired by the
classic spirit of Manding tradition - and this is a typical touch inherent to Cissoko “jelis”
(see Kaouding Cissoko, Yakhouba Sissokho, Ablaye Cissoko ...).
In his last record, he performs many standards of traditional Manding folksongs like “Kaira”,
“Sori”, “Famadenke”,
or “Bani” - entitled “Tawta” - grooving on “m'balax” Senegalese rythms or “reggae” rythms, as you can hear on
his first international album, Guisna, released in 2003.
