Madina N’Diaye, led by her love of Manding melodies, claims and holds an original status in the West African musical landscape. She is today the only Malian woman on stage who plays the cora, one of the most emblematic instruments in the Malian musical heritage. Madina opens the way to a new phenomenon in Mali: Women’s access to musical instruments traditionnally reserved for men and the “griots” caste. Despite the wrath of some traditionalists, she has made herself known as a talented songwriter, composer and performer. Mali and her commitment to the feminine cause are at the heart of her music. 1982/1988 First experiments on stage in the IJA (Institute of Young Blind men) of Mali. Meets with Salif Keita, Alpha Blondy...
1990 Beginning of her professional career. 1995 The Professor Dembélé (in INA) introduces her to the group Lo' Jo with who she collaborates and begins her initiation of the kamelen' goni.
2000 Creation of her own group composed of young students of the INA (Siraman Sanougo, balaphon, and Souleymane Dembélé callebass), Mamadi Konté to the acoustic guitar and the chorus-singer Fatoumata Coulibaly.
2002 Following an infection of the optic nerve, Madina loses the sight. In spite of the handicap, she continues the repetitions, constantly supported by her group.
2003 Her first tour in France, under Diniébétan’s agency, is her occasion to meet the French public...
2004 Recording of her first album at the Bogolan studio, Bamako by Yves Wernert, with Aliou Traoré (Musician and Arranger of Oumou Sangaré) as Artistic Director. Tour in France in November.
2006 Release of « Bimogow » in October (France) and January (Europe). Madina N’Diaye plays with Djélimadi Tounkara, Boubacar Traoré and with Ba Cissiko in Guinea. Européan Tours in spring and summer
2007 European Tour in spring, summer - Francofolies .... - and Autumn
"Destin Artificiel" song with "Les Ogres de Barback" and stages with them.
