Ali Farka Toure (1939~2006) was - like
Djelimadi Tounkara - a great “guitar hero” of the Manding music who improved the traditional style to modern music ; he has been one of the greatest actors of the
« revival » of the traditional African music, in the early 90's when he plugged in his guitar and had been “discovered” by the American producer Nick Gold.
