Paul Sidibé is a singer and player of kamalen ngoni ; he hails from a Fulbe peasant family ; in Badenko
(Mali), his village, « family life was organised around the mom in domestic tasks for the girls, and fields with herds for the daddy and his boys. In this context, when he was 8, he met Ceki
Coulibaly, great
ngonifola (player of ngoni The n'koni is a melodic instrument hailing from the Fulani, used since antiquity by that ethnic group... Read more.) of the village ; since
that time, Paul felt so enthusiatic that he made for himself his first ngoni. The complicity of these two enthusiast players led them to a first selection for the cultural week of Sirakoro.
Mady Diallo, musician of the Ensemble national instrumental of Mali, points him out during a festival in Kita and persuades
him to settle in Bamako in order to deepen his music, ; he encouraged his departure in Europe to accompany with many great artists (Nahawa Doumbia, Djeneba Diakite, Ramata Diakite). Paul lives now in
France since 10 years, and found out also other forms of expressions through many musical meetings of French songwriters, especially Valhere who co-writed "mon petit ventre" ("My little belly") and
Christelle Fortin, co-author of "Mon ngoni m'a dit" ("what my ngoni told me") ».
Partner of
Tom Diakite, great player of kamalen ngoni (and kora), Paul Sidibe is a real virtuoso and a great composer on his first solo album : My
ngoni.
